Ships of the game Star Trek: Armada by be enhanced with special weapons. The tier 2 research station provides the enhancements solely for the caster casters of their faction. Without theses research items these ships are not very useful, as they are expensive and otherwise weak offensive and defensive wise. Depending on the techtree this station may not be available at all, either because all casters already have their special weapons (free tech) or are not available either (no science vessels).
