The Federation Dilithium Freighter type ship of the game Star Trek Armada is the Federations mining freighter. It is build by the Starbase. It is the main source for dilithium, one of the two primary resources. They are slowly moving and unarmed, only equipped with a Mining Beam, allowing them to gather Dilithium from Dilithium moons. They are pretty much the same as the freighters of the other factions, only influenced by their crew's traits.

For using a Mining Station to full capacity, you will need at least three of them (depending on the distance of station and moon). As these ships are relatively sturdy but defenseless you should avoid letting them be completely uncovered by defenses or ships nearby. They are vital for your economy.
