Interstate ’76 combines shooter and vehicle simulation into a vehicular combat game. It was developed and released by Activision. In 1997 it was released for the Windows platform. It is based on an engine derived from MechWarrior 2's engine.
The game features a single-player as well as a multi-player. The player is controlling his car in a first person view, via keyboard and mouse, joystick, gamepad or PC racing wheel. In 1999 it got an add-on called Nitro Riders.
The successor of this game is Interstate ’82 from 1999.
