+As Epic stopped supporting [[Unreal Tournament|UT99]] and UT2004 in 2023, the **official** master servers of both games are down. However, there are replacement servers maintained by communities. One of them is the 333 Network. In order to use those, you should do the following steps.
+  - If the game or game servers are still running, stop their processes (e.g. close the game).
+  - Find the file //System\UT2004.ini// and make a backup of it.
+  - Open the original file in a text editor.
+  - Look for a row containing //[IpDrv.MasterServerLink]//.

As with [[Unreal Tournament|UT 1]], port 7777 takes playing connections and 7778 waits for query requests (game state). The second port is selected automatically in relation to the first one. The query port is always + 1 of the connection port. So a fully functional UT 2004 server always requires at least two directly adjacent UDP ports to be forwarded, to make it reachable directly via the Internet.
